| The Handbook of CME
includes a reference book for CME providers and a Compendium of
practical tools on a CD-Rom.
The Handbook of CME was first published in French in 1983 as a
concise and practical tool to assist CME providers. This publication
was a tremendous success and it was reprinted several times to meet
the demand. The knowledge and experience acquired by a growing number
of physicians and educators have provided the impetus for the Conseil
to issue a new version. The comprehensive content and large numbers
of contributors are evidencen of Québec physicians’
interest and experience in CME. As a result, CME program providers
have a practical, easy-to-consult document including references
and an up-to-date bibliography at their disposal.
The French version of the reference book for CME providers was
written by a group of authors, coordinated by a team of editors
including Dr François Goulet, Dr André Jacques et
Dr Robert L. Thivierge. The English version was adapted by Dr Craig
Campbell, Dr Paul Davis, Ms. Joan Sargent and Dr Linda Snell.
The CD-Rom Compendium of Practical tools, published in addition
to the Handbook of CME, is meant to be firts and foremost a practical
tool whose purpose it to support CME providers in organizing quality
educational activities. It contains more than an hundred of tools
in « PDF » format, including :
|
- numerous descriptive cards on needs identification techniques,
organization of group activities, code of ethics, allocation of
credits, and evaluation of activities;
- check-lists;
- reminders; and model letters.
These documents may be consulted, printed and used upon providers’
personal needs. Moreover, from some of these tools, you can have
access to many templates documents (Word files), including :
- standard letters;
- budget and schedules;
- evaluations forms.
These Word files may be consulted, modified or personalized to
meet providers’ institutional or personal needs.
The French version of the CD-Rom is a collaborative effort of many
authors who laboured under the coordination of Ms. Sylvie Leboeuf.
The English version was adapted by Dr Linda Snell, and edited by
Ms. Leboeuf.
